A native of Lackawanna, I grew up listening to the legends Danny Neaverth, Jackson Armstrong, George Hamburger and many others. Back when AM radio was playing the hits, at night time you had your choice of stations from around the country. I was a big fan of WABC New York. DJs like Dan Ingram and Cousin Brucie. Here in Buffalo we had the advantage of hearing stations from Toronto and Detroit. 1050 CHUM and CFTR 680. One of my favorites was CKLW AM 800. Even though they were in Windsor Canada, it was known as a Detroit radio station. As a student at Buffalo State College, I worked at the radio station where Byron Brown was a news anchor, and would announce the headlines on my show. That's when I also became a big fan of Harv Moore. In 1979, he was the first one to hire me for my very first radio gig at WYSL 1400 AM, where Buddy Shula was also beginning his radio career while still in high school! I ended up leaving and working in Philadelphia, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Long Island, Lubbock Texas and Rochester. Now I'm back here in Buffalo working with all the folks I knew back in the day. A true all-star cast. Catch me weekends here on BIG WECK and we can reminisce about the good times and play your favorite Oldies!
